Dog of the week
Rapunzel and Kiaria,

Rapunzel and Kiaria,

Gender/Age: Female 9yrs
Breed: Shihtzu
Colour: Tan
Location: Edenbridge

Two very sweet girls who have been neglected for most of their lives. Found in a very bad way covered in fleas, leaving them both with a skin infection. Currently being treated by LC. Rex, Teddy & Olive

Rex, Teddy & Olive

Gender/Age: Boys & Girl 11 weeks
Breed: Labrador
Colour: 2 Black, 1 Yellow
Location: New Romney

These adorable puppies have come in to Last Chance through no fault of their own and are now looking for loving families. They have been raised around cats and children 6+ and are very good with them. Being puppies they will need a family who is at home the majority of the time and will need lots of love, socialisation and positive training to help them grow up into well balanced dogs. We will also need to see proof of puppy classes being booked. Obviously they will grow into big, bouncy dogs so please bear that in mind. If you would like to register your interest, please pop in to our New Romney centre during our opening hours. For any New Romney dog queries please phone: 01797 366620.

Rocky

Rocky

Gender/Age: Male, 2 years
Breed: Rottie
Colour: Black & tan
Location: New Romney

Rocky has come into Last Chance due to his owners health and no fault of his own. He is good with other dogs out and about but has never lived with one. He ignored cats on walks but has not lived with/been around them in the home. He is good with children and has been around 1+

Zeus

Zeus

Gender/Age: Male, 2 years
Breed: JRT X
Colour: Tri
Location: New Romney

Zeus has come into Last change due to a change in his owners circumstances. He is a typical terrier, full of energy and always on the go. He has lived with other dogs but will bark at them on lead when out and about until he gets close enough to say hello. He has lived with cats but will chase anything that moves fast, however if the cat stops and stands their ground he will run away and he has never hurt them. We would consider a home with the right kind of cat, but no small furries! He has also lived with children 3+ and is very good with them but as he is bouncy we would look for a home with older children. He is very friendly and affectionate and loves to play ball, he will drop it repeatedly at your feet to keep the game going. He is a very busy boy so we are looking for an active home that will give him all the walks and stimulation he requires. If you think you might be able to offer Zeus his forever home, please pop in to our New Romney centre during opening hours, to meet staff and Zeus. For any New Romney dog queries please phone: 01797 366620.

Catherine

Catherine

Gender/Age: English Bull Terrier
Breed: female, 6 months
Colour: tan
Location: Edenbridge

Catherine is a gorgeous baby who is scared of her own shadow. She is very cuddly and loves lots of reassurance that’s she is going to be ok. She’s had a bad start in life so Catherine is looking for a lot of TLC. She is nervous of other dogs so it’s very important she starts to be socialised while she is still young. Catherine is going to make a wonder pet with someone who has the time for her. She’s going to need lots of exercise.

Mac

Mac

Gender/Age: Male 4yrs
Breed: Lurcher
Colour: Black & white
Location: Edenbridge

Mac came to us at the end of lockdown having been bought as a companion for an elderly couple to keep them busy during lockdown. When the restrictions lifted mac was no longer wanted and came to us. He had had no training at all and was a very frustrated adolescent pup who would have temper tantrums. Mac has now been with us for nearly 4 years, much to the staffs disbelief, and he has settled down into a wonderful dog. He is brilliant with other dogs and loves to play, he has had many friends since being here and could be homed with another dog. Mac walks fantastically on the lead unless he sees any wildlife. Mac loves to play fetch and will run round for hours playing. He also loves to play tug-of-war with cuddly toys. Mac has spent some time in the staff accommodation here at Last Chance and after his initial investigating, loves to cuddle with you on the sofa and watch telly. Mac can still get frustrated at times with kennel life but we think he will now make a very loving wonderful pet.

Mendi

Mendi

Gender/Age: Male, 4 yrs
Breed: Ex racing Greyhound
Colour: Blue
Location: New Romney

Mendi has come in to our centre after being retired from racing. Mendi is a friendly boy who is an average male greyhound size. Being trained to chase, Mendi will not be able to be rehomed with any cats or other small animals. Mendi was kenneled with another male greyhound so could potentially live with another dog, but most ex-racing Greyhounds have only experience with their own breed! Mendi is looking for a secure, private garden, so he can safely run off lead and amaze you with his zoomies. He would also like a nice big comfy bed to snooze on once he's tired, Mendi has not been around children so may be okay to be homed with calm, older, dog savvy children. If you think you might be able to offer Mendi his forever home, please pop in to our New Romney centre during opening hours, to meet staff and Mendi. For any New Romney dog queries please phone: 01797 366620.

Molly

Molly

Gender/Age: Female
Breed: Labrador
Colour: Black
Location: New Romney

Molly came to us from the Welsh pound so no history is known before she came to Last Chance. Molly is a very friendly girl and is very excitable before her walks and can pull on then lead, however after the initial excitement she can walk nicely but would still need lead training and a strong owner. She has a lot of energy and would need a home with a good sixed garden. Molly would need a home with no other dogs and no children. Molly loves a tennis ball and a good game of catch. If you think you can offer Molly her new forever home, please pop in to our New Romney centre during opening hours to meet staff. For information on New Romney dogs please phone 01797 366620.

Matey

Matey

Gender/Age: Male, 4 yrs
Breed: Ex racing Greyhound
Colour: Black
Location: New Romney

Matey has come in to our centre after being retired from racing. Matey is used to kennels as he and his companion Mendi (we are rehoming Mendi too) have lived in a kennel environment, that said most Greyhounds adapt very well (and very quickly) to a home environment. Matey is a sweet boy and has been friendly with staff since arriving. Matey is an average sized male greyhound (please note they do curl up small!). Having been trained to chase Matey will not be able to be rehomed with any cats or other small animals. Matey was kenneled with another male greyhound so could potentially live with another dog, but it is worth noting most ex-racing Greyhounds have only experience with their own breed! Matey will require his own secure, private garden, so he can exercise safely off lead. Matey has not been introduced to children but we think he may be able to be rehomed where there are calm, older, dog savvy children. If you think you might be able to offer Matey his forever home, please pop in to our New Romney centre during opening hours to meet staff and Matey. For any New Romney dog queries please phone: 01797 366620.

Cosmo

Cosmo

Gender/Age: Male, 6 yrs
Breed: Labrador
Colour: Black
Location: New Romney

Cosmo has come in to our centre after his owner sadly became too poorly to look after him. Cosmo is a sweet, friendly boy who we are told has been around children (not lived with) 10 years upwards. Cosmo hasn't lived with other dogs before but we are advised he is friendly and just wants to play whenever he meets other dogs. Cosmo is untested with cats. Being a big strong dog, his new humans will need to be capable of managing him safely whilst out on lead walks, Cosmo will need lots of exercise and his own, private, secure garden to burn off some of his energy. We are advised Cosmo is housetrained. If you think you might be able to offer Cosmo his forever home, please pop in to our New Romney centre during opening hours to meet staff and Cosmo. For any New Romney dog queries please phone: 01797 366620.

Chase

Chase

Gender/Age: Male 18 months
Breed: Saluki x Greyhound
Colour: Black
Location: Edenbridge

Chase came into us as his owners were unable to afford his care. He has a broken leg that has been poorly repaired, due to this he now requires another operation here at last chance to try and save his leg. He is now looking for a long term foster or a permanent loving home. He is good with dogs and loves to play, however sadly he can't at the moment. He is very loving and loves to be around his people. Due to his troubling start in life Chase suffers from separation anxiety so will need a very understanding and patient owner with someone in most of the time. Due to missing out on a lot of his puppyhood he is still very much a cheeky boy so would need training once he has recovered. Chase is currently in a temporary foster home but please contact our Edenbridge centre for information on this lovely chap. After everything he has been through Chase needs some stability in his life and lots of love.

Mushu

Mushu

Gender/Age: Male 4/5 years
Breed: Shihpoo
Colour: Grey/white
Location: Edenbridge

Mushu is a lovely boy once he knows you, he can be frightened of new situations so needs a quiet understanding home. Mushy prefers females so ideally he needs a female only home. He enjoys his walks and doesn’t mind having a bath and groom.

Banana

Banana

Gender/Age: Female 1yr
Breed: Doberman x
Colour: Silver blonde
Location: Edenbridge

Banana came to us from the Welsh pound so no history is known before she came to Last Chance. She is a very bouncy girl and it is clear that she has had little to no training. She is very excitable before her walks and can pull on the lead, however after the initial excitement she can walk nicely but would still need lead training and a strong owner. She is quite stressed her in kennels and has a lot of pent up energy so will need a very active home preferably with a good sized garden to run off her energy in. Out on walks it is clear that she has not experienced much of the world as she is often scared by new things such as new fencing or a fallen tree that is not normally in that place and will hide behind you for reassurance. Banana is very vocal on the lead towards other dogs and we believe she has had no socialising prior to coming to us, but we are hopeful that once she is settled in a loving home this can be overcome. Banana can get frustrated and still puppy mouths as she has probably never been told not to so she needs an experienced owner to understand her behaviour and help her settle down in life. We believe that Banana will make a fantastic pet in time, with the right owner who has the time and most importantly patience she needs to become a loving pet.

Boy

Boy

Gender/Age: Male 18 months
Breed: Lurcher
Colour: Brindle
Location: New Romney

Boy has come in to Last Chance due to an issue with the sheep at his home. Boy is a lovely affectionate dog, who has lived with other animals including chickens, rabbits, horses, cats and other dogs. But he is not good with Sheep and deer, which are unavoidable at his current home. Due to his high prey drive with these particular animals he will need a very secure garden and 6ft fencing as he can easily clear 5ft. He will need to be walked on lead and only exercised off lead in secure areas. He was placed briefly into a home with a cat, while he did not do anything to the cat he was very interested if it moved quickly so we feel a home without the temptation of cats would be ideal. He is a gorgeous, chunky Lurcher who is friendly with strangers, could live potentially with older children and other non sheep based animals! If you think you can offer this lovely boy his new forever home, please pop in to our New Romney centre during opening hours to meet staff and Boy, or phone 01797 366620 for further information.

Ella

Ella

Gender/Age: Female 4yrs
Breed: Frenchie
Colour: Tan/Fawn
Location: New Romney

Ella came in due to no fault of her own. Ella is a very sweet and excitable dog who has a lot of love to give. We have been told Ella can be nervous to begin with when meeting new dogs but is fine once she knows them, we have also been advised Ella will be better at being the only dog in the home as she likes to be the centre of attention. We have been advised Ella is not good with cats so we recommend a home that has no cats. Ella has been around children from the age 5 years and up. We have been told that she travels well in the car, as long as she has her bed to cosy up on. If you think you can offer Ella her new forever home, please pop in to our New Romney centre during opening hours to meet staff. For information on New Romney dogs please phone 01797 366620.

Rolo

Rolo

Gender/Age: Male 1-2yrs
Breed: Jack Russell Terrier
Colour: Black & tan
Location: Edenbridge

Rolo was rescued from a hoarding case, having lived in a flat he has never been walked on a lead or been outside much at all. He was rescued with his brother Squeak. When he first come to us he was terrified of his own shadow but now he slowly learning that this is a safe place and he can start to trust us. Needs a lot of TLC and someone who has the patience to do extensive lead training. Once he feels safe and more confident he is going to be a very loving boy. Quiet adult home only.

Loco

Loco

Gender/Age: Male 1 Yrs
Breed: Staffie x Frenchie
Colour: Light tan
Location: New Romney

Loco has arrived at Last Chance from the Welsh pound, so we are unaware of his history prior to arriving with us. Since getting to us Loco has been out and about in our grounds, but it is clear her is not used to being on a lead! He has been fine with staff, but was not so pleased to see our dear vet for his vet check, which is understandable after his long journey (4 hours plus), but something to bear in mind for any future vet trips! Loco would like a loving home with his own private, secure garden so he can run and play safely, he is untested with cats and we would be looking for a home without children, as we do not know his previous history. To help Loco settle in his new home, a good, structured routine with his new family will also help him gain in confidence. Please pop in to our New Romney centre, during opening hours, to meet staff and discuss Loco. For any questions related to New Romney dogs please phone 01797 366620.

Pepe

Pepe

Gender/Age: Male, 9 months
Breed: JRT x Springer
Colour: Black & White
Location: New Romney

Pepe originally came into us due to being too high energy for his original home. He was placed into another home but came back to us as despite multiple walks a day, he still had more energy to burn and would bark and mouth to get attention. Pepe is a cross of two highly intelligent and high energy breeds so is a dog that really needs an active home who can give him a lot of their focus. He is not going to be a dog who will be happy to just settle for long periods, he would love a home who can keep his brain and his body busy and work on some boundaries for his more demanding behaviour. He does like other dogs but gets very excitable when he meets them on lead. He is untested with cats so we would be looking for a home without these. He is housetrained and would like an owner who is around most of the time. He can get a bit stressed on car rides. He is also very strong on the lead and currently cannot be trusted to go off lead unless it is in a secure area. He would happy play fetch all day long! He loves people and is very friendly with strangers, we would consider a home with older children who can help wear him out! If you think you can offer this bouncy boy his new forever home, please pop in to our New Romney centre during opening hours to meet staff and Pepe, or phone 01797 366620 for further information.

bear

bear

Gender/Age: Male, 9yrs
Breed: Chihuahua
Colour: Tan
Location: New Romney

Bear has unfortunately come back to Last Chance a few times as he can exhibit some challenging behaviour in the home. Bear is a funny little guy who can either be the most loving boy when he is in the mood, or a bit of a grump when he isn't. He likes things to be done on his own terms and will need an owner that understands he will need time to settle into a new home and build trust with them. During this time he may be a bit of a challenging Chihuahua. He has lived with other dogs and could potentially live with another smaller dog. He has also been around cats so we would consider these. We are looking for a home with no children/visiting children and not lots of visitors. He may benefit from a secure garden and a cat dog/flap so while he settles into the home he can take his time before going out on walks together. We would love someone who has an understanding of his breed and behaviours. If you think you can offer this boy his new forever home, please pop in to our New Romney centre during opening hours to meet staff and Bear, or phone 01797 366620 for further information.

Squeak

Squeak

Gender/Age: Male 1-2yrs
Breed: Jack Russell Terrier
Colour: Black & tan
Location: Edenbridge

Squeak was rescued from a hoarding case, having lived in a flat he has never been walked on a lead or been outside much at all. He is a very affectionate boy who loves a cuddle when he knows and trust you. He is slowly learning what walkies is and we have introduced putting him on a lead slowly. He is going to make a wonderful companion with someone who has the time for his needs and put in the effort to show him that everything isn’t so scary. He is looking for a safe environment and a very secure garden so he has a place to be off lead and a safe place to do extensive lead training.

Carter

Carter

Gender/Age: Male 2yrs
Breed: Lurcher
Colour: Tan and white
Location: Edenbridge

Carter came to us in a very sorry state and had a bad start in life. He is now back to being healthy and his true personality is able to shine through. We believe he hasn’t had a chance to be a puppy before due to being neglected so now his cheeky side is starting to show. He needs a lot of exercise and loves to go for zoomies. He doesn’t like loud noises so needs a quiet home. Carter is very affectionate and loves having his people around him all the time. He can suffer from separation anxiety but with the right training this is easy to overcome. Being in the right home with someone with time and patience Carter will make a great companion. Good with dogs.

Mary

Mary

Gender/Age: Female 2yrs
Breed: Pocket Bully
Colour: Fawn
Location: Edenbridge

Mary is a lovely girl who needs a understanding owner. If she loves you she adores you and you become her world, she loves a fuss and to play rough and tumble with you. However this means she gets very protective of her people and can become aggressive when strangers approach. So for this she needs a patient and understanding owner. She is good with dogs out and about but would greatly benefit from gentle socialising and would need to be the only pet in the home. We do not think that Mary has had any training or socialising, She now knows sit and paw, however she gets over excited for the treat so jumps up to give you both paws instead. She can be a tiny bulldozer and charges about when she is having her zoomies. Mary would make a fantastic companion to the right owner and would make you laugh on a daily basis.

Maximus

Maximus

Gender/Age: Male 3yrs
Breed: Collie X Saluki
Colour: Black and White
Location: New Romney

Maximus came into Last Chance with his brother Pablo due to his owners ill health. Maximus is very sweet and friendly boy but we have found that he is reactive to other dogs whilst on walks and will bark, due to this Maximus would need to be the only dog in the household. We have been advised that they will chase cats, so a home with no cats is a must. Maximus gets on well with children but we are suggesting older kids that are used to big bouncy dogs. He loves to play and destroy a good squeaky toy! Maximus is very active. If you think you can offer these lovely boys their new forever home, please pop in to our New Romney centre during opening hours to meet staff, or phone 01797 366620 for further information.

Amber

Amber

Gender/Age: Female 5yrs
Breed: Greyhound
Colour: Black & white
Location: Edenbridge

Amber originally came to us from the racing kennels and has never lived in a home before. Amber has spent a few nights in the staff accommodation here at Last chance, where at first, normal day-to-day things were scary. She would go off investigating knock something with her nose and run to you for reassurance. She was very confused by the television, trying to walk round the back looking for the people. She is a typical greyhound and has never been taught manners around food, so thought everything was for her. Amber loves attention and constantly tried to get on your lap for a cuddle thinking she is a lapdog. For a dog that has never lived in a home before she was clean and slept throughout the night and settled very quickly. Amber is good with dogs her size out and about but no small animals in the home. She loves to play with toys and will find a fluffy toy and throw it around to herself, but hasn't quite got the hang of bringing back tennis balls yet. Amber is a lovely dog and deserves and kind and loving first home.

Max

Max

Max

Gender/Age: Male 3yrs
Breed: Staffie
Colour: Black
Location: New Romney

Max is a very sweet boy that originally came to Last Chance from a Welsh pound, unfortunately we are unaware of his history. He is such a sweet boy once he knows you, he absolutely loves a bum scratch whilst sitting on your lap. Max is a little hoarder with his toys, he loves keep them on display in bed and never destroys them. We often find him snuggled up under his blankets all warm and cosy. Max is 50/50 with other dogs, he is fine seeing other dogs on walks and has made a couple of friends at the centre. We have seen that Max has taken a strong disliking to men; this could be due to something that happened in the past. Because of this we are looking for an adult female only home with no visiting children . No cats or dogs in the home. Please pop in to our New Romney centre, during opening hours, to meet Max or phone 01797 366620 to discuss further.

Stumpy

Stumpy

Gender/Age: Male 3yrs
Breed: Greyhound
Colour: Black
Location: Edenbridge

Stumpy has come to us for retirement from his racing life. Stumpy got his name as he has only got half a stump of a tail. He is a typical greyhound who loves a good walk followed by a big snooze on a comfy bed. He has discovered what toys are and loves throwing his squeaky toys in the air then pouncing on them to make them squeak. He loves his food and treats but still has not learnt any manners when it comes to food. He may never have lived in a home environment so will need a understanding owner of this, who gives him time to settle into a loved pets lifestyle. No small animals. Due to high prey drive we advise muzzling in public.

Big Bud

Big Bud

Big Bud

Gender/Age: Male 5 Years
Breed: Husky
Colour: Tan and white
Location: New Romney

Big Bud has sadly been returned to Last Chance due to his behaviour in his adoptive home. Big Bud is a friendly boy who, like most husky's, needs to be around his human for the majority of the day. We think Big Bud would be suited to a single male only home. Big Bud will need to go to a home with no other pets nor children. As he is a husky he will require lots of exercise and mental stimulation and an understanding owner who will work at Bud's pace and provide him with reward only based training, to develop his skills and keep his highly intelligent mind occupied. If you feel you could give Big Bud the home he needs, please pop down to our centre at New Romney or for more information please phone us on 01797366620.

Lovely Lily

Lovely Lily

Lovely Lily

Gender/Age: Female 3 yrs
Breed: Lurcher
Colour: Brindle
Location: New Romney

Lily is a lovely, lively Lurcher, who arrived at Last Chance New Romney as a stray. We therefore do not have any history for our Lily. What we do know is Lily is very friendly towards us, but she can bark at other dogs whilst out on lead walks in our grounds, however; this could be due to her unknown past and lack of socialisation. As Lily is a Lurcher, she has a strong prey drive which means she will not be suitable to live with cats, birds or small furries, she would like some lead training to walk at her best. Lily would like an active home, where her new human/s will be around for the majority of the day, she will also need her own, secure garden, where she can run off lead safely and show off her zooming skills. We do not know if Lily has lived with children before, we therefore err on the side of caution and suggest no young children/older dog savvy, teenaged children upwards. Please pop in to our New Romney centre, during opening hours, to meet staff and Lily, or phone 01797 366620 for further information.

Snowy

Snowy

Gender/Age: Male 3yrs
Breed: Greyhound
Colour: White & black
Location: Edenbridge

Snowy is an ex-racing greyhound and when he first came to us he was very nervous and frightful around people. He didn’t seem to know what love was. Since being with us for a little while, he has come out of his shell massively and now loves to meet new people and is a firm volunteer favourite and goes for walks with everyone. He is now a very happy boy who doesn’t stop wagging his tail. He loves a squeaky toy and will chuck it around his kennel and pounce on it. He walks very nicely on the lead, but due to his racing prey drive he needs to be walked with a muzzle in public. Snowy is great with dogs his own size but no small fluffy dogs or any other small animals in the home. Snowy will make a wonderful companion with someone who has lots of love and the space he needs.

Mallow

Mallow

Gender/Age: Male 3yrs
Breed: Jack Russell Terrier x
Colour: Black & white
Location: Edenbridge

Mallow is a very energetic dog. He needs a lot of physical and mental stimulation. He can be very vocal in the house and on walks so needs a rural home with little distractions. Once he is calm he can be very cuddly on the sofa and playful. He had a very high prey drive so we advise keeping him in the lead. He must be the only dog with no other animals in the home. He needs an experienced adult only home.

Leighton

Leighton

Gender/Age: Male 3yrs
Breed: Greyhound
Colour: Black
Location: Edenbridge

Leighton is an ex-racer who came to us from the racing kennels. Leighton has more energy than your average greyhound and will spin with excitement before going for his walks. He loves his walks and is starting to enjoy the slower pace of retirement life. He walks lovely on the lead unless he sees a squirrel. He adores being around people and loves to lean on you for affection. Due to his high prey drive we advise he is walked on a muzzle. He loves to play with soft squeaky toys and is finally starting to get the idea of playing fetch with a ball and now returns the ball 2/10 times.

Luna

Luna

Gender/Age: Female 2.5 years
Breed: American Bulldog
Colour: White
Location: Edenbridge

Luna was originally handed in to our New Romney centre with puppies as her owners housing situation changed. Since then, all her puppies have found loving homes but Luna is still sadly looking for her forever home. When Luna first came in, she was very wary of men and had so much energy to burn that she would become very frustrated. Luna is now at our Edenbridge centre and has gotten used the daily routines and has calmed right down. She can still be wary of new men she has not met before but has come to like many male members of staff and volunteers. Luna is ok with other dogs but doesn't like dogs that are to boisterous or bouncy so must be the only pet in the home. Luna loves her walks but will need further lead training as she gets very excited and can pull. Luna did not seem to know what a love was and at first used to freeze when receiving attention. She now will jump up at her door every time you get her out for a quick cuddle and a fuss. Luna will make a lovely pet for someone who has the time and patience to help with further training and socialising. No small animals or children.

Buddy

Buddy

Buddy

Gender/Age: Male 4yrs
Breed: Lurcher
Colour: Tan
Location: Edenbridge

Buddy came to us from the Welsh pound. He was incredibly skinny and had lots of sores all over. He has now put on a healthy amount of weight and is just the happiest boy. He loves everyone he meets but gets very excited and jumps up for cuddles. He is good with dogs but would need to be homed with an equally playful dog as buddy is very bouncy when meeting new friends. He loves to play with toys but hasn’t quite worked out to bring balls back yet when playing fetch but is quite happy to just chase the balls around a field. Buddy can be very excitable on the lead but is responding well to lead training which will need to be continued in his new home. Here he is with his friend Rocky.

Being trained to chase for racing he will not be able to be rehomed with any cats or other small animals. Charlie is learning to trust staff at the centre with the help of cocktail sausages, which he loves. Charlie is looking for a quiet but active forever home. He may be okay to be homed with calm, older children. If you think you might be able to offer this, please pop in to our New Romney centre, during opening hours, to meet Charlie or phone 01797 366620 to discuss further.

Colour: Fawn
Location: Edenbridge

Buddy is a gorgeous boy looking for a very particular home. Buddy needs to be rehomed to someone who lives on their own - no children or other pets- that has experience with dogs with some behavioural trust issues. It would need to be a quiet home with someone who does not’t have many visitors. He gets very possessive and protective of his owner and doesn't want any harm to come to them. He absolutely LOVES his food and will do anything for a nice treat so this is a way to win over his trust and to help build a bond. He loves to rough play and gets very excited when you hype him up to play. Buddy has a lot of love to give, he loves having cuddles on the sofa and will happily snooze by your side when you're watching TV. In time Buddy will make a wonderful companion for the perfect person who is willing to put some time and effort into helping him overcome his fears.

Jake

Jake

Jake

Gender/Age: Male, 6 years
Breed: Beagle
Colour: Tri Colour
Location: Edenbridge

Sadly Jake has recently become diabetic which has caused him to lose his vision, so we are desperately looking for a foster or forever home before he loses his sight completely. He will need insulin injections twice a day but he is such a good boy and waits patiently as he knows a tasty carrot is coming. Jake is one of our long termers who is very misunderstood, he has unfortunately come from a traumatic past which has caused him to bite when feeling threatened. Once Jake trusts you and knows you he is a very affectionate boy and loves a cuddle on the sofa. He is very good with other dogs socially but has to be only dog at home due to resource guarding. Jake is obsessed with food and will do anything to get hold of it so being a typical beagle he will try his very best to get what he wants. Looking for an adult home only who understands Jake's needs.

Doodles

Doodles

Gender/Age: Male 2 Yrs
Breed: Bedlington Terrier X

Doodles originally came to Last Chance from the Welsh pound, so we are unaware of his history prior to arriving with us. Since his arrival Doodles has been rehomed twice but unfortunately, he has been returned to us on both occasions. We are looking for an understanding home, with someone who has experience of terriers and the behaviours Doodles has shown. Doodle is an EXTREMELY high energy dog, if he does not get enough exercise, he can get very frustrated. He can often get fixated on particular objects and gets himself quite worked up by this. He is clean in the home and Doodles is an escape artist and has been known to scale a 6-foot fence so he will need a very secure garden! Adult only home required and no visiting children, Doodles previous adopters have stated he has been fine with other dogs when on walks but he will need to be the only pet in the home. Please pop in to our New Romney centre, during opening hours, to meet Doodles or phone 01797 366620 to discuss further.

Dino

Dino

Dino absolutely loves to play ball! He can get very over excited and boisterous when first playing so is best to leave him to tire himself out first before continuing to play. Dino has become very reactive towards other dogs at last chance so needs a lot of gentle slow socialising. Once Dino is calm he loves a good stroke and gentle fuss. Dino loves his walks and loves to bark at squirrels running up trees. Dino is a big chap who is often misunderstood by people seeing him in the kennel environment as he can get stressed easily. Dino needs an understanding adult only home where he is the only pet.

Bill is a lovely boy once he knows you, but can be a little fearful at first and will snap when feeling threatened but once he knows and trusts you he is fine. Bill needs a one to one adult home with no children visiting, as he does bond with one person very well. Bill does enjoy a fuss but on his terms he's not keen on being over fussed. He does like to guard his toys and bones so he has to be left alone whilst he has these. He is good with most dogs when out but tends to show a dislike to black dogs particularly because of this we are looking for him to be the only pet in the home.

Ralph has fear based aggression when it comes to meeting people he doesn’t know or new environments. This causes him to become very vocal and snap when he is scared. He will need a very experienced one to one, adult only home, with someone with the time and dedication that he deserves!

Dancer

Dancer

Gender/Age: Male 3-4yrs
Breed: Collie x
Colour: Black and Tan
Location: Edenbridge

Dancer came to us from a Welsh pound. We believe he was used as a farm dog as he can be weary of people approaching him on the lead and can nip and he is very traffic reactive. He is a typical ex-working dog who hasn’t adjusted to home life yet so will need an experienced and very understanding owner to help settle him in slowly. He needs an adult only home in a rural setting, where he is the only pet in the home.

Whippy

Whippy

Whippy loves to run and also loves to be chased by people around a safe space. She likes her toys and will carry them to her bed and lay on them. Whippy loves her owners and will stand up for a cuddle and cling on to your arm for attention. In the home Whippy can be very lazy in between walks and loves a big bed to lounge on. Whippy gets very protective of her owners in and out of the home so needs a very understanding owner with few visitors. She must be the only pet in an adult only home. Whippy is good with bigger dogs but not with small fluffy dogs as she is an ex-racer and has a very high prey drive.

Tito

Tito

Tito

Gender/Age: Male 8yrs
Breed: Greyhound x Saluki
Colour: Tan
Location: New Romney

Tito is a very loving and playful dog, he adores the people he knows and is fun to be with. Tito loves his ball and running around our grounds, peeping into any likely rabbit holes and playing hide and seek. He certainly can run fast!! He does however need a very special and experienced, adult only home, with no other animals. Tito came to us at New Romney with a few years of unknown history, he needs to live in a home that will accept how he is now, but work with him, at his own pace, to become a truly settled, content and happy dog. Tito is a very much loved dog at our New Romney centre and we are more than happy to discuss with any applicant who feels they may be able to help this handsome lad move forwards. Please note: Tito will require multiple visits, from any potential adopter, at our centre in New Romney, to build up a bond with him and receive guidance and input from staff on behaviours that will need ongoing work. He is a very precious dog and we want him to find as special a home and new human/s. Please phone New Romney on 01797 366620, or pop in to the centre to chat with staff during our opening times.

Monty

Monty

Monty

Monty

Gender/Age: Male 8yrs
Breed: Lurcher
Colour: Black
Location: Edenbridge

This is Monty he has been with us for nearly 7 years and rarely gets asked after sadly. Monty has come from a bad past. Poor Monty has a hunched back which the vets think was caused by his previous owners keeping him in a crate that was too small for him for a long period of time! Because of this he does have bad trust issues so would need someone who can help show him that not everyone is bad. Since being with us Monty has become very loving towards the staff and loves to have attention and cuddles on the sofa, but of course this has taken time and patience to achieve and we want to be frank about his hang ups. Actually, Monty only wants one loving owner, he doesn't want to share and can become very jealous which may lead to him being aggressive. He is not good with any animals and will bark and pull towards them and needs to be muzzled in public places. Unfortunately, he gets so frustrated that he hits your legs when wanting to get to other dogs, so his new owner needs to be quite strong. However, since being at Last Chance Monty can now calmly walk with a dog in sight and not bark or hit your legs but this will take time to achieve in his new home. He would never be able to meet or live with dogs but would love a home with someone who can keep up his training and continue the work we have done with him. He loves to run and chase tennis balls, the only problem there is he just doesn’t know he is meant to bring them back! So lots of balls required! The reason we have had Monty with us for so long is that he is not an easy dog but we are sure there may be someone out there he could call his own and will love him for what he is, a slightly damaged rogue! So to sum up we are looking for an adult only, single person home with no other pets, lots of patience, love, garden and tennis balls! Lots of visits to spend time with him before adoption would be required, so someone not too far from us would be ideal (unless you love long and frequent journeys)! If you feel you could be Monty's 'human' please contact us, we would love to hear from you.

Cobi

Cobi

Gender/Age: male, 6years
Breed: Jack Russell
Colour: tan and white
Location: Edenbridge

Cobi is a very happy dog when he feels safe, but when he feels scared or frightened he will lash out and will bite if given the chance. So is best left alone when he goes into his scared state, this usually occurs when he hears loud bangs. When he knows you he can be very affectionate and loves to sit on your head looking out the window. We are looking for a very understanding one-person adult home for Cobi with no children visiting please and no other pets. Cobi would need to go to someone who has experience dealing with JRT as Cobi needs a special person who can give him the time and patience he requires. Please call to find out more information about this little character.

Buster

Buster

Gender/Age: Male 8yrs
Breed: Patterdale
Colour: Black
Location: New Romney

Buster is looking for a very special adult only home who has lots of experience with dogs with behavioural issues and also someone who is familiar with the Patterdale breed. Buster originally came to us as a stray so we have no previous history on him but we suspect he was tied up and left due to the marks present on his neck when he first arrived at the centre. Sadly Buster has been returned to us several times over the last 4 years which really is a terrible shame as he has so much love and loyalty to give to the right person who is prepared to give him lots of time and help to settle. What we know about Buster - he is sometimes frightened of being outside and can become very agitated on a walk, often lunging at other dogs and people. All of this is fear based - he is just so overwhelmed and frightened by the big outside that he can't cope with too much coming at him at once so it is for this reason that he will either need a large garden to exercise in or someone who has a secure piece of land where he can safely explore and anyone who adopts Buster must accept that he may never be comfortable going for a walk. Buster is also very frightened of loud noises and will become agitated and constantly circle if he can't get to his 'safe zone' (in this case his kennel), sometimes he can be distracted with a squeaky toy or treat (both of which he loves!) but other times he can't calm down until he is removed from the situation entirely. Lastly, Buster loves his human so much that he cannot tolerate sharing them so will need a home which doesn't have any visitors or has somewhere safe and secure and separate for him to go for a short while if visitors come into the home. Anyone interested in adopting Buster must be prepared to visit the centre a few times a week for 1-2 months to establish a relationship with him before he will be ready to go home and he will be better suited as the only pet in the home as he doesn't like to share his toys. Buster will make an amazing companion and friend for the right person - he is a cheeky, funny, energetic boy who loves to play (especially with squeaky balls or a paddling pool!) and have lots of cuddles with his human - if you feel you could offer a forever loving home for this boy please call New Romney on 01797 366620.

Taylor

Taylor

Taylor

Gender/Age: Male 5yrs
Breed: Border Collie
Colour: Black & white
Location: Edenbridge

Taylor is a very energetic boy! He can be obedient and knows a few commands, he loves going for long walks and walks well on the lead so this will help burn off some of his energy. He does enjoy playing fetch/chase but only on his terms so once he has had enough then he will simply stop playing. Taylor is reactive to cars / traffic so would need a home on a quiet street where walks with busy roads can be avoided. Due to Taylor’s behaviour issues we are looking for a very specific home for him. The home he needs is a single person only who has experience not only with the breed but dogs with behavioural issues with no visitors. Ideally a home with a bit of land or a large garden for him to explore safely. Any potential new owner for Taylor would be required to come and meet him a few times to help build a bond before adopting him. If you are interested and think you are able to offer Taylor the home he needs please get in contact by completing one of our adoption questionnaires mentioning his name on the form and a member of staff will get back to you.

Danny Boy

Danny Boy

Gender/Age: Male 10years
Breed: Scottie/Carne X
Colour: Black
Location: Edenbridge

Danny Boy is a lovely boy once he knows you, he has to have a female owner on a one to one basis, this is all due to him being mistreated. Unfortunately this poor sad little lad, through no fault of his own was kicked and abused in his previous home, living day after day in constant fear, hiding and cowling away from his owner.

This is a very sad case due Danny Boy’s previous male owner who was sadly suffering with-Alzheimers and didn’t realise what he was inflicting on his once best friend.

Please therefore understand why our darling sad, confused, untrustworthy, frightened little Danny boy can be unpredictable towards men, and is quite nervous when first meeting you and needs to settle in slowly. Is there someone out there that can reassure him, give back the love he once knew, to enable him to trust that once again, like the song above will there ever be any pipes a calling for our Danny Boy?????? Or does he have to continue to hope, dream, wish for someone to call his name.

Look into those eyes, see his pain, reach out to him, give him a chance, give him time to trust you, give him back his life, give him the confidence, patience and love that he needs, LOVE that we all need. I know the right person is out there, make our Danny Boy’s wish come true, a loving home this Christmas, that day and every other one there on, FIND HIM A HOME PLEASE.

MORE INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OUR BOY For those of you that feel you can give our little lad the right home, you would have to visit him on a regular basis, over weeks, even maybe months for him to get used to you and to start to trust you, so this is something that must be considered.

Danny is ideally looking for a quiet home, with a female that does not have regular visitors, with NO CHILDREN, MEN OR OTHER PETS. Danny needs to be his on boss, not be confronted by things or over stimulated or trying to teach him. Danny I would say at the moment, but who knows in the future, is currently not a companion pet, and would not understand or want loads of cuddles or fuss. Like I say he might be the most adorable companion, but this would take time.

Consideration must be taken when out with Danny, due to his fear of people, especially men, you would need to keep a distance from people and dogs whilst walking our Danny boy.

For more information on Danny please call our staff at the Edenbridge rescue 01732 865530

Alfie

Alfie

Alfie

Gender/Age: Male 8yrs
Breed: Staffie X
Colour: Brindle
Location: Edenbridge

Alfie has been with us for some time now due to his behavioural issues, he originally came to us from the welsh pound with no history so we have no idea what traumas he had been through before he got to us. Alfie doesn’t like meeting new people and can be very protective of his area, for these reasons we have come to the conclusion that it would be too stressful for Alfie to be rehomed so he will be staying with us living out his years in a safe environment that he is comfortable with and has members of staff that he has developed a good relationships with. Alfie loves playing ball, lazing in the sun and peaceful walks around our private fields. If you would like to join Alfie's fan club please use the contact form to let us know - your sponsorship will help us supply Alfie with all the things he loves, tennis balls and favourite snack Schmackos! Along with all the care, love and food he receives at the centre of course.
